The Seafood Conference Iceland 2012

The Seafood Conference Iceland is an annual 2 days conference for the seafood industry in Iceland. It was founded by around 100 individuals, companies and organizations in Iceland to be a platform for people from the industry to meet and discuss important areas of common interest. It is funded by sponsoring, advertisement and admission fees and it is neither linked to any one organization nor the government. It was first held in 2010 and the first 2 conferences have been very successful, each attended by over 300 people from all segments of the industry. The Seafood Conference Iceland 2012: 8.-9. November – Grand hotel Reykjavik 

The heading for this year´s conference is: “Look to the future”. The conference language is Icelandic, but the session Fishery management and harvesting in Iceland and the EU will be in English. The program is as follows:

 

Thursday 8. November (10:00-17:00)

  • Opening Session: The Seafood Industry in Iceland. The Fishery minister opens the conference.
  • Session A1: Should the industry work together to market seafood from Iceland?
  • Session B1: Future opportunities in fish farming
  • Session A2: Shall everything from the fish be brought to land?
  • Session B2: Are there opportunities in value added processing in Iceland?

 

Friday 9. November (9:00-12:45)

  • Session A3: Global supply of competing groundfish species
  • Session B3: Global supply of competing pelagic species
  • Closing session: Fishery management and harvesting in Iceland and the EU
